Upcoming Schedule for the Launch of Satellite Report for Disaster and Crisis Management (Extended Information)

Dec.07,2023
National Space Policy Secretariat, Cabinet Office

Currently, Satellite Report for Disaster and Crisis Management (DC Report) distributes disaster prevention information based on disaster prevention weather information provided by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
"Satellite Report for Disaster and Crisis Management (Extended Information) " (DCX) is being developed for the distribution of J-alerts (missile launch information) and L-alerts (evacuation instructions) as well as disaster information for the Asia-Pacific region as additional information.
We would like to announce the plans for the Launch of DCX as follows.

Transmission schedule:
-Start of transmission for system test: December 13, 2023
-Start of test transmission for practical messages: Around the beginning of February, 2024
-The beginning of service of DCX transmitting J-Alert (missile launch information) and L-Alert (evacuation instructions) messages: Around April, 2024
-The beginning of service of DCX transmitting disaster information for Asia Pacific region: Around April, 2025

Target Satellites: QZS-2, QZS-3, QZS-4 and QZS-1R

Remarks:
-DCX uses the same L1S signals as the Sub-meter Level Augmentation Service (SLAS) and DC Report.
-DCX converts J-alerts, L-alerts, and Asia Pacific region disaster information into an original format and transmits them using message type 44.
- DC Report uses message type 43, which is a different message type from DCX, so there is no impact on DC Report users.
-Format specifications for DCX will be released as user interface specifications (IS-QZSS-DCX) prior to test transmission.
-The test transmission may be cancelled or interrupted depending on circumstances.
