Start of Satellite Report for Disaster and Crisis Management (Extended Information)
Currently, Satellite Report for Disaster and Crisis Management (DC Report) distributes disaster prevention information based on disaster prevention weather information provided by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
"Satellite Report for Disaster and Crisis Management (Extended Information) " (DCX) distributes J-alerts (missile launch information) and L-alerts (evacuation instructions) as well as disaster information for the Asia-Pacific region.
We are pleased to announce that we started the service on April 1, 2024 for the distribution of J-alerts and L-alerts from DCX.
Regarding the distribution of disaster information for the Asia-Pacific region, we are currently conducting verification and research on overseas deployment, and plan to launch the service in FY2025.
[About DCX]
DCX uses the same L1S signals as the Sub-meter Level Augmentation Service (SLAS) and DC Report. DCX transmits each information using message type 44. The message format uses the Common Alert Message Format. For details, please refer to the interface specification for DCX service (IS-QZSS-DCX) to be released later.
Adoption of Common Alert Message Format
In collaboration with EC and with the assistance of Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology (AIIT) since 2017, CAO has been working on the development of common message format for Emergency Warning Satellite Service(EWSS).
After reaching an agreement of standard format between EC and Japan Cabinet Office, we would like to inform you that the release of CAMF(Common Alert Message Format) as official document for a common EWSS message format.
By establishing common EWSS message format with EC, we hope that global dissemination of DCX will be facilitated.
For more information on CAMF, please refer to the following.
