Start of Trial transmission of the Augmentation Information corresponding to IS-QZSS-L6-002 in Centi-meter Level Augmentation Service (CLAS)

Jun.19,2020
National Space Policy Secretariat, Cabinet Office
Centi-meter Level Augmentation Service (CLAS) is planning to change the Interface Specification to increase the number of augmented satellites to a maximum of 17 for more stable positioning accuracy*1. Due to the interface specification’s revision, the trial signal compliant with IS-QZSS-L6-002 will be broadcast by the L6D signal of the Quasi-Zenith Satellite-3 (QZS-3) as follows.

  • Trial period: July 1, 2020 to late November 2020*2
  • Usage satellite: QZS-3

This trial signal will be broadcast with the alert flag fixed at "1" to avoid any impact on existing CLAS users. For this reason, there is no need to change existing CLAS receivers' settings.

The official broadcast of the augmentation information compliant with IS-QZSS-L6-002 from all the four Quasi-Zenith Satellites is scheduled for late November 2020*3. In order to continue using CLAS after this time, it is necessary to update the receiver's firmware and/or change the receiver's settings to comply with IS-QZSS-L6-002. For the firmware update schedule of your CLAS receiver, please contact the manufacturer of the CLAS receiver you are using.

*1: For more information, please refer to the Interface Specification(IS-QZSS-L6-002, Dec. 27, 2019) of Centi-meter Level Augmentation Service.

*2: Details of the service interruption period will be announced by NAQU message separately.

*3: The schedule will be determined based on each CLAS receiver manufacturer's support status, thus the current schedule is subject to change. Details will be announced separately on this website.
