China launched its twentieth BeiDou satellite on September 30
The People’s Republic of China launched a third-generation positioning satellite named “BeiDou-3” on the Long March 3 rocket at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province at 7:13 on September 30 local time (8:13 on September 30 JST). This was the number four third-generation satellite, after the first launched on March 30 of this year and two launched on July 25. It was also the twentieth in the overall BeiDou system. It will be operated on a geosynchronous orbit (GSO) and is the first BeiDou satellite equipped with a hydrogen atomic clock.
